Tidjane Thiam has over 30 years of experience in global financial services, government and public service.
On December 22nd 2023, Tidjane was elected President of the PDCI RDA, becoming the third President of the
second oldest party in Africa.
Before that, in 2021, he founded Freedom Acquisition I Corp a Special Purpose Acquisition Company for which he
raised $USD 345m. In July 2023, Freedom merged with Complete Solaria, a leading player in residential solar in
California with the ambition to expand in the US and in Emerging Markets. Complete Solaria listed on Nasdaq on
July 18th, 2023, and Tidjane serves on its board of directors.
In 2020, Tidjane was appointed by President Kagame chair of Rwanda Finance to promote the Kigali International
Financial Centre. In the latest published ranking of Global Financial Centers, Kigali was one of the most improved,
gaining 17 places to be ranked now third in Africa behind Casablanca and Mauritius and first in Sub Saharan Africa.
In 2020, Tidjane was appointed Special Envoy on Covid by the African Union and was instrumental in negotiating
funding for Arican countries as well as developing MRNa vaccine manufacturing in Africa.

From 2015 to 2020, Tidjane was the Global CEO of Credit Suisse Group AG. He led a deep restructuring of the bank,

raising $10 billion of Equity to repair the balance sheet and settle large legacy issues with the US government. He
successfully turned around the bank’s performance and, in the final year of his tenure in 2019, achieved the bank’s

highest profits in more than a decade with more than $ 3 billion after tax. For these achievements, he was named
PDCI RDA
Banker of the Year 2018 by Euromoney.
