Mirenchu del Valle was born in Madrid. Her father was Spanish and her mother French, so the European
Union not only marks her career but runs in her veins too. She holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the
Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Masters in Community Law from the Institute of European
Studies of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. After an initial spell at the European Commission General
Directorate, she joined UNESPA in 1988 as Head of Foreign Affairs.

In 1996, she was promoted to the position of Secretary-General of Spanish Association of Insurers. She
has held that position until 2023, when she was named President of UNESPA.

She has an extensive institutional experience, both in Spain and abroad. She currently is member of the
Mrs. Mirenchu Insurance Advisory Board at the Ministry of Finance of Spain. She holds one of the vice presidencies of
CEOE, the Spanish confederation of business; and is a member of the Board of Presidents of FIDES, the
DEL VALLE SCHAAN
Latin American federation of insurers associations.

President
She is also member of the Executive Committee of Insurance Europe and the Budget and Nominations
UNESPA
Committee of this organization as well. Last but not least, she was president of the Insurance and
Reinsurance Stakeholders Group (IRSG) of EIOPA from 2016 to 2018.
