INTERVENANT
James Amos started his Shipping and Maritime career in 1995 when joining the French Merchant Marine
Academy. Fully qualified unlimited Master Mariner and Chief Engineer, he held from this date multiple
positions at sea on different types of vessels across the globe. His connection to the sea also led him to
work in parallel in the seaweed industry, at the time very innovative in Europe.
In 2013 James joined AXA, at first working for the Marine Risk Consulting department but very quickly
joined the Marine Underwriting department which he leads today.
He has spent all his career in the Maritime world, focused on safety, environmental protection and linking
his experience onboard to today’s insurance industry. Convinced about his responsibilities towards the
Mr. James AMOS future generations, James has put a particular focus, and for some years now, on providing insurance
solutions and partnerships supporting the sector to transition.
Master Mariner James Amos is a member of various technical marine insurance committees in the French Insurance
